Frequently Asked Questions
Having trouble with the app? Find answers below, or reach us directly.
Check your Spam / Junk folder — the sender is no-reply@nysc.online.
Make sure the email you entered is exactly the one you used during NYSC registration.
Tap Resend OTP in the app and wait up to 2 minutes.
Try switching between WiFi and mobile data, then request again.
OTP codes expire after 10 minutes. If you waited too long, request a fresh one and enter it immediately.
Check your Call-up Number against your call-up letter — make sure every digit and slash matches exactly (e.g. NYSC/ABU/2026/123456).
Confirm the email address is the personal email (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.) you used during NYSC registration and mobilisation.
If both are correct and the error persists, your record may not have been uploaded yet. Contact support using the details below.
On the PIN screen, tap "Forgot PIN" or "Reset PIN". The app will send a fresh OTP to your registered email to verify your identity. After verifying, you can set a new 6-digit PIN.
If there is no reset option on screen, contact support — an admin can reset it from the dashboard.
An older version of the app is conflicting with the new install.
Go to Settings → Apps → NYSC Clearance → Uninstall.
Download the APK fresh from nysc.online.
Open the downloaded file and install again.
Android requires permission to install apps from outside the Play Store.
When the warning appears, tap Settings → Allow from this source, then press back and tap Install. You only need to do this once.
If the download itself won't start, try using Chrome instead of Samsung Internet or another browser.
This option only appears in Safari. If you're using Chrome or another browser, it won't show.
Copy the URL: app.nysc.online
Open Safari and paste it in the address bar.
Tap the Share button (square with arrow pointing up).
Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
Tap Add.
Your account travels with your email — no device reset needed.
Install the app on your new phone (Android: download the APK from nysc.online; iPhone: open app.nysc.online in Safari and add to Home Screen).
Enter your Call-up Number and registered email, then verify the OTP sent to your email.
Set a new 6-digit PIN on the new device and you're in.
No support contact is required to switch phones.
Force-close the app and reopen it.
Check your internet connection — the app needs data to load.
iPhone: Delete the home screen icon, then re-add it: open app.nysc.online in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen.
If still blank, uninstall (Android) or remove and re-add (iPhone), then reinstall fresh.
Contact your state NYSC coordinator or call support immediately to let them know it was accidental so the alert can be cancelled before a response team is dispatched.
The SOS button requires a 2.5-second hold to prevent accidental triggers. If you released before it fired, no alert was sent.
After a successful alert, there is a 5-minute cooldown before you can send another — this also helps prevent duplicate dispatches.
The SOS button is for genuine emergencies only — physical danger, threat, harassment, or a situation where you urgently need NYSC command to know your location and status.
Do not use it for testing, curiosity, or non-emergency issues. False or frivolous alerts are a disciplinary offence under NYSC regulations and may result in a query or other sanctions.
For non-emergency issues (schedule queries, allowance, relocation), use the announcements section or contact your LGA Inspector directly.
Make sure you are in a well-lit area — the face scan needs clear lighting, not backlight or dim rooms.
Remove glasses, hats, or face coverings if worn.
Hold your phone at eye level and keep your face centred in the frame.
The scan checks for a live face — do not use a photo or screen.
Enable Location (GPS) permission for the app. Clearance requires your GPS coordinates to verify you are in your assigned LGA.
If the scan consistently fails after the above, contact support with your state number and a description of the error shown.
